I’ve tried these apps and can say that they all work well in OSX Lion and in Apple’s older operating systems on PPC and Intel processors.

Right now, I use Unarchiver, a personal favorite for the simple reason that I like the icon, a nicely rendered corrugated shipping box. RAR Expander is another favorite (It’s icon is handsome, too). Right now I’ll be providing instructions for downloading and installing the Unarchiver.
